Bad customer service - Restocking Fee

by Todd
(New York, United States)

I recently called Direct TV asking for the HD package and the NFL Sunday ticket. They mailed me the wrong receivers and the wrong satellite dish.

When the Direct TV installer came, he informed me of the mistake and told me to call the customer service line. When I called; they informed me that there will be a 49.95 "restocking fee" for sending the satellite dish back.

Their excuse was because I approved the order in the end of the call- so it is my fault. When I asked how it should have been worded they stated the exact same receiver with just the letters HD in front of the name.

I was unaware that this made the difference and they never asked are you sure you are not interested in HD products. I called the customer service line requesting a supervisor and was on hold for an hour only to get the representative to tell me that the supervisor will have to call me back.

They called my wifes phone number and left a message stating that they will not budge on the fees. My thought (and I work in corporate customer service) is they are going to loose a premium customer over a $50 fee.

Its just bad customer service attitude and they are showing that they do not care.
