Direc TV DVR problem with set-up

Hello. We currently have Direc TV in our home and have been very happy with it.
We recently bought a Direct TV DVR from Best Buy and my husband (electrician) tried to connect it.
We called Direc TV, added the DVR to our account, did the set-up, have a signal (strength) of 100, but after all this... we only have a grey/blue screeen.
We have no picture other than this screen. Please help! :)
