You will only need 1 set of Direct TV Dish to be installed in your house even though you need to have 4 sets of TV in your house to be able to watch Direct TV program. ( Direct TV maximum allow up to 4 sets of TV in your house to watch Direct TV programming )

The Direct TV installer will usually install your Direct TV Antenna at the edge of your roof top. It's facing direction require an open view, that not blocking by any building or trees, or else it may received weak satellite signals.

Weak satellite signals may result that you will receive bad picture quality and bad sound quality on your Direct TV Program. It is better for you to clear the blockage on your roof if any before the Direct TV installer arrived, to ensure the smooth installation process.

You shall also try to roughly estimate yourself the cable distance between your Direct TV dish and your Direct TV receiver to ensure the cable distance to be keep within 125 feet, before the installer arrived.

Or else, Direct TV will charge you extra cable length if it had exceeded 125 feet.

Please note that the Direct TV dish that installed in your house is still belong to Direct TV; you will need to return in to Direct TV if you want to cancel their service in future.

And, if the dish is damaged or not working within contract period, you will need to pay the repair fees or replacement fees if it is total loss.
