But there are also exceptional cases; Direct TV will charge you extra if the cable distance between your Direct TV dish and your receiver more than 125 feet.

Moral of the story? Plan ahead yourself on where you want your dish and receiver located before the installer arrived and how the cable run.

It is also very important that you are signing up a 2 years contract with Direct TV once you take their package. If you terminate the system in less than 2 years time; you will be imposed penalty fees.

The penalty fees is cost you at USD 20.00 / month x balance of months left before the contract period ended. I have also heard that if you upgrade your Direct TV receiver to HD Direct TV receiver, your contract will be auto extend 24 months without notice from Direct TV..

So, if you plan to get the HD programming, better you take it from the beginning :) Direct TV will provide first 2 set of your TV in your house with free Direct TV receiver.

But for the 3rd receiver and 4th receiver in your house, you will be charged month leasing fees USD 6.00 / standard receiver set.

If you are leasing your equipment from Direct TV, I ll suggest you to take their equipment protection plan, that charge you USD 6.99 / month, when any of your Direct TV Equipment is not working, Direct TV will bear the equipment repair cost or replacement cost for you.

Or else, all these money will need to pay from your own pocket. And, the repaired or replaced Direct TV Equipment is still belong to Direct TV.

Then you may ask:" What if I purchased my own Direct TV boxes myself?"

Well, Direct TV will still charge you month leasing fees, as long as you watch their Direct TV program from 2nd Direct TV Boxes onwards. And, you will need to activate the Direct TV receiver you brought with them.

Or else you unable to view Direct TV program with your own receiver.

Furthermore, your receiver may unable to view Direct TV program since you do not sure that the receiver you brought had meet the Direct TV system requirement or not.. So it is better to get your receiver from Direct TV to avoid unnecessary hassle..
