Direct TV Customer Service/support center the worst i have seen

by earnest thompson
(Sacremento, Ca)

I switched from comcast to direct tv last october, and i have lost service several times. If you loose service, it usually takes them a week+ to get someone out to your home.

I had two rooms added with direct tv's hd packages. Thinking that I had everything ironed out, I bought a new tv and blu-ray dvd player a week ago.

Upon setting up the tv, and blueray player,I discovered that direct tv's installer had taken my hdmi cable during the first installation.

I bought that cable from best buy for approx. $60+.I called direct tv to try and get them to replace the cable.

Direct tv rep. told me that there installers would not do anything like that, and if i thought that the cable was stolen, file a police report.

The next day, i had coolen off, and decided to let it go. I then called direct tv customer service again, in the attempt to get service the new TV.

I needed a hd receiver to get my TV going. Direct TV's complaint manager told me that he was sorry about the hdmi cable, and if i leased receiver from DirectTV, an additional year would be added to my contract.

He also added that whether i bought a reciever, leased a receiver (whatever)... there would be another year added to my contract.

I called back to Direct TV's customer service dept. and spoke with (2) different representatives.

One told me that if i bought my own receiver, and paid $20 for activation, that i would not be obligated to inherit another additional year on my contract.

The other representative told me that all i needed to do was either order a receiver from them, or go down to Best Buy, and purchase a receiver.

Direct Tv would mail me the receiver, and there would be no additional years added to my contract.

I have spoken to (3) different representatives, who told me three different statements. I have lost my personal property during installation, and also purchased a new TV, and blu-ray player, in which I am not willing to commit to an additional year of contract with a company that does not want to take responsibility, for a customers loses.

The bottom line is..."It's all Bad".
