Direct TV dropping our No. 1 local news channel by 12/31/2010

I live in the Savannah, Georgia area and today WTOC-11 announced that Direct Tv will no longer carry their local newscast after 12/31/2010.

It all comes down to money. Someone please explain this further. I was just deciding whether to stay with Direct TV (my preference) or to go to Comcast. This gives me reasons to ponder further.
