Direct TV DVR is the abbreviation of Digital Video Recorder. There are 2 type of DVR that provided free from Direct TV, which know as standard DVR and HD ( High Definition ) DVR.

Standard DVR features will be inclusive of:

1. automatically record every episode of your favorite shows, even if they change days or times.

2. It can pause live TV, rewind, watch in slow motion and create instant replays.

3. You can record two shows at the same time*, even while you watch another recorded show.

5. It can digitally record up to 70 hours of your favorite DIRECTV® programming.

How about HD DVR? Well, it works same with the standard DVR, but it can record Direct TV HD Programming whereby standard DVR can only record Standard programming for Direct TV.

You can order the Direct TV Free DVR service when you order your Direct TV package, they won't charge you any equipment fees on DVR. However, they will charge you monthly equipment leasing fees for the DVR you ordered.

For the standard Direct TV Free DVR, Direct TV will charge you USD 6.00 / month per DVR. One standard DVR can only record for the Direct TV program from 1 TV set.

If you want each of the receiver in your house coming with DVR features, then you may need to order few DVR set. When come to HD DVR set, it know as "Whole Home HD DVR".

The monthly leasing cost will be vary depend on which Direct TV package you are taking.

If you are taking their Family Choice Xtra, Family Choice Ultimate or Premier Package, your HD DVR monthly leasing fees is USD 10.00 / month.

If you are taking their standard family choice package, your HD DVR monthly leasing fee is USD 20.00 / month. The best part of the HD DVR is you only need 1 set of it and you can allow all receivers in your house to come with the DVR features.

You can even record the show from your living hall TV set, and play the show in your bedroom TV set without doing any recorded file transfer works :)

But, please remember that the DVR is not belong to you, it is Direct TV asset. You will need to return it if you are terminated their service in future. Direct TV will charge you on non returning equipment..

About the fees amount they charged? Hmm, seem like they do not have a fixed table that show to customer, you will only know the amount after you received the bills.

Besides, please note that if the DVR is not working after 90 days from installation date, Direct TV will charge you around USD 80.00 - USD 120.00 / visit.
