Next, you will need HDMI ( High Definition Multimedia Interface ) cable to transfer the large volume of data from your HD Receiver to your HDTV. By subscribe to Direct TV HD programming, they will upgrade your existing standard receiver to HD receiver. As far as I know, if you upgrade your standard receiver to HD Receiver, they will renew your contract period for another 2 years. If this issue is not care by you, then just forget about it :) But, you still need to purchase a set of HDTV and HDMI cable yourself. ( The price is quite expensive - Well, of course it has to pay more for higher quality enjoyment ) You will also need to get a set of home theater system in order to enjoy the 5.1 digital surround sound support by Direct TV HD Programming. Please note that the HD receiver is not belong to you even thought you had paid your monthly HD Programming subscription fees. If the receiver is not working after 90 days from installation, you will need to pay about USD 80.00 - USD 120.00 / visit from Direct TV technician. So, it is better for you to take the Equipment warranty plan that cost you additional USD 5.98 / month. But if anything happen to any of your equipment ( receiver, remote, dish, cable, blah blah ) All is covered under Direct TV, no extra cost from you.
