Direct TV Not Honoring Promotion

by Gary
(Chino Hills, California)

On July 2nd, 2010, I signed up for Direct TV via a promotional letter they mailed to my home. In the letter, they were offering free HD for life, so I called and signed up for a 2 year commitment, and made sure sales representative Dan knew I wanted HD.

I already had an HD box and dish attached to my house, so told Dan that the only thing they would need to do was activate the Direct TV HD service.

Dan said that they would need to send out a technician to check everything. On July 5th, a technician came to my home.

He said that the dish and HD box would need to be replaced and would not work with the upgraded signal.

He installed the new dish, but he did not have any HD boxes with him and said I would have to order one.

So I called Direct TV service center and ordered one that day. The Direct TV staff said it would take a couple weeks to get it and have it installed.

On July 25th, a technician came out and installed the box. Now come to find out a couple months later, that Direct TV has been charging me for HD Access, which should be free.

I spoke with Josh, or Joshua, (first he told me his name was Joshua, then he later said it was Josh) and he told me I signed up on the 25th and was not eligible for the promotion since it ended on the 22nd and gave me some address in Colorado to write to and basically said go away.

Obviously this is not true since I have a receipt from their technician dated July 5th in which he installed a HD dish.

Why would he install a HD dish if I was not going to get HD? Anyway, I am disputing with Direct TV and my CC company has already issued a credit to me for $10.

I will see what happens!
