Direct TV Programming times are off

We have had Direct TV for several years and the whole time the programming times have been off. If Direct TV want the whole show, they need to tell it to start a minute or two early which isn't a huge deal unless Direct TV are recording something right after it.

The first minute of the next show will be on the previous show that was recorded...as long as it's on the same channel.

Otherwise you don't get it. And if I don't watch them in the order they were recorded, I am out of luck! It's been very frustrating. How do I fix this?
