I moved into a house and there is everything hooked up, the Direct TV dish and a Direct TV Receiver is here.
I plugged it in and it said I need a card. Is it possible to get service by just obtaining a new card from Direct TV?
If so, will it be cheaper because I already have everything I need except for a new card?
Terrence Comment: In fact, Direct TV provide free equipment service whereby you do not need to pay for the equipment fees to subscribe into Direct TV Packages.
In your case, you may just need to contact Direct TV to tell them that you just need a Direct TV card from them.
But before you do that, several points you will need to be aware of:
1. You will need to make sure that the entire Direct TV system is works, except you lack of the card.. or else when the Direct TV technician reach your house, and after slot in their card and you still unable to enjoy the Direct TV shows.. you may need to make for 2nd appointment for the technician to get full set of Direct TV Equipment for you.
2. Although Direct TV do not charge you any equipment fees, but if in future any of these equipment that sent by them went wrong, you will still need to pay for the newly replacement equipments.
And the newly replace Direct TV Equipment will still belong to Direct TV. The concept here is :" I borrow you for free, once broken, consider sold"
3. You may want to check with the previous house owner or land lord on their experience that will you receive good satellite signals reception come with clear picture to prevent waste of time.
4. You are signing a 2 years contract with Direct TV once you take their service. If you terminate their service no matter what reason before the contract period end, you will be imposed penalty charges.
Hope these information helps :)
