I have the same situation and spent an hour on the phone with the tech. Well, their solution was to send me another controller.
Well I received the other controller and it still doesn't work. I can increase the tv volume and turn off the tv and receiver separately.
For some reason when i turn on the tv the remote doesn't talk to the receiver but when I turn the tv off it talks to the receiver.
I'm frustrated and I am ready to cancel my Direct TV. This was working fine with my other LCD but I just purchased a bigger screen and now I am having issues.
