Direct TV Remote not working with Vizio TV

I just bought a Vizio Plasma TV, slightly used but after hook up, my Direct TV remote won't change the volume or power off the TV. It still works to turn on the TV and switch channels, though. What am I doing wrong? Terrence Comment: If you mentioned that your Direct TV remote can partially control of your newly brought TV, is there be a possibility that certain buttons on your Direct TV remote was lose and no longer functioning?
