Direct TV Shows Captioning Problem

We need closed captioning as my husband is near deaf. When we save programs with our receiver we seem to lose a lot of captioning. We have verified that it is not our tv set. We have had our receiver replaced and it is no better and is sometimes worse. Any suggestions? Terrence Comment: Hi Jane, if I not understand you wrongly, your problem is the subtitle for the Direct TV shows you recorded is gone? And you doubt that is because of your DVR is not working? As far as I know, DVR will not remove away your movies subtitle. Some of the show may not have subtitles no matter you watch it live or recorded in your DVR. The other possibility is you might had disable to subtitle features. Try to enable it in your remote control and see? Thanks
