" PVR ( Personal video recorder ) is a recording device that allow you to pause, rewind, replay ( even in slow motion ) and record your favorite Direct TV Programming. Well, some folks called it as DVR (Digital video recorder). Tivo is the pioneer brand of digital video recorder. It is a stand alone device that connect to your receiver. It even come with Tivo networking function that allow you to connect the device to your PC; access into internet and download movie, music files or photo files from internet to your Tivo set. Now a day, PVR is no longer a stand alone device, it form part of the features of your Direct TV receiver. You are able to save a space on your TV rack from putting a stand alone Tivo set.
