Direct TV system is build of few key element, Direct TV Dish, Direct TV receiver and all connection cables from Direct TV Dish to your receiver and from your receiver to your TV set.

Direct TV is offering 2 kind of programming to their customers, that are standard programming and HD Programming. Standard programming able to perform by using standard receiver and standard dish.

To have HD Programming, you will need a LNB 5 Dish and a set of HD Receiver. There are also a HDMI cables provided together with your HD Receiver; that allow you to connect from your HD Receiver to your HDTV.

HDTV is the abbreviation of High Definition Television. It is not part of the Direct TV system, you need to buy your own set of HDTV before order your HD programming. Without HDTV, you are unable to get your HD pictures even you have order HD Programming.
