Dump Direct TV

I called to cancel my subscription to Direct TV. I was then transfer to three other individuals who did there best to try and talk me out of canceling my subscription.
The last person I talked with told me that if I placed my subscription in an inactive status that would prevent me from having to pay additional fees if I ever decided to renew my subscription.
I told the person that I was concerned that Direct TV would turn on the account without my permission.
I was assured that this would not happen and that Direct TV would only turn the account back on after I contacted them.
About 9 months later Direct TV tried to debit my bank account for $130 without my knowledge. As luck would have it the card they were using had been canceled because it was lost.
I subsequently received a bill for the $130 and another bill for $39 because they failed to debit my account.
I called four times and was hung up on each time by Direct TV customer representative. The last time I called, I told the supervisor I was filing a law suit for their fraudulent practices.
The Direct TV box had been placed in storage for over 10 months when this happened. After a heated exchange the supervisor decided to remove the $130 bill and assured me that I would receive no additional bills and that the account had been closed.
This was in September of 2006. Despite Direct TV stating I would receive no additional bills I am still being billed for the $39 and have been turned over to a collections agency.
I recently found out that Arizona's Attorney General brought charges against DISH Network for simular fraudelent activities and the settlement was 5 million.
It seems the only thing these companies understand is litigation. So I'm off the Arizona Attorney Generals Office and the FTC to file a complaint against Direct TV.
I encourage everyone who has had a problem with Direct TV to file a complaint with your State Attorney Generals Office.
