Getting Direct TV for my RV

I currently do not have Direct TV in my home, though I am considering purchasing the system. The reason I am considering this is because I heard I can buy an extra "card" and portable dish and then use them to watch satellite TV in my RV. Is this true? What is the card and how does it work? What type of dish would I buy to pick up the signal for my RV? Thank you.
