How Direct TV Advisor.com Born - Part 2After I decide to build a website, I intend to build a Satellite TV related website since I am quite familiar with the satellite TV system for being their customer for so many years. I eagerly go to purchase a domain name, www.free-satelite.com, cost me USD $6.95, take up a hosting package, charge me USD $14.95 a year... Happy :) its cheap! Next question come, how shall i use html code to build a website? A friend of mine who is a web programmer recommend me to use Microsoft Frontpage, it is a program that similar to Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word.. Just key in the content and let the program to generate the html code by itself. So I paid USD $120 to buy a microsoft frontpage software. Then I take another 3 months to get myself familiar with the Microsoft Frontpage and create Direct TV content with it. Then I think of my website template supply by frontpage is not attractive enough. So i spend another USD $649 to buy the adobe photoshop package, read and learn from adobe photoshop tutorial, then try to create an attractive web layout myself.. On and off another 4 months gone, I still unable to use frontpage and photoshop fluently.... afterall, I am just a building estimator! I gave up and ask a web designer to create a Direct TV Web Design template for me. It cost me another USD $200.. And i just create the contents on my website. Another 2 months gone, my website finally up and running! It takes me 9 months and cost USD $991 to create a website.. but finally I have done it.. So i thought of in the next day morning I will earn lot of $$$ from the Satellite TV packages that I promote! 1st month gone.. 2nd month gone.. somehing wrong! I check my website traffic stats..I get no traffic! no one come to visit my website?! Then I try to console myself:"Relax, domain name and hosting cost is cheap.. may be just a little longer then my website will start to flow with traffic and generate me lot of $$. Who knows? 3rd months gone.. 4th months gone.. Then i receive an email from my domain and hosting company, remind me that my 1 year packages is expired.. ask me to pay renewal fees for domain and hostings fees :( Well, its cheap. i just need to pay another $30 then my website can live for another new year.. But whats the point?! I create a website to make money, not to spend money! I am thinking seriously to abandon this website business and just go back to my building estimator work.. I have spend 1 year and paid nearly 1k, but nothing in return!! I share my story in some of the web marketer forum to ask for advice. One of the forum member recommend me to use SBI (site Built it)package.
