How to edit pre existing Direct TV shows recordings on DVR?

I have some football games recorded. I recorded the programs afterward just in case the games ran over.

Some of them only took up a couple minutes of an hour of the post recorded program. Is there a way I can eliminate part of the recording?

I want to make more room on the disk. Also is there any way I can edit out the commercials on recordings to save space.
