How to get my TV screen to work from Direct TV?

i have my wii hooked up into my dvd player, and we programed everything, but when we get things playing, such as a movie, the screen doesn't work. The movie plays, but the tv still shows the direct TV channels. How do i fix my problem? Terrence Comment: Hmm..
