I don't like basketball instead of my regular programs on Network TV

I would like to know why when I pay $62.40 a month to watch TV I am forced to watch Basketball on a regular channel just because it is a carolina team playing,? What is the Sports channel for? They talk about moving the Presidents speech for LOST, but yet subject people who are paying to be able to watch TV,to moving their regular programs so Direct TV can put on Basketball. All the world is not a basketball fan, so what makes Direct TV think they want to watch Carolina play instead of their regular shows?
