Insane Direct TV Package arrangement !

I could not get basketball game shown on fox local channel that my neighbor was watching on his cox cable with basic. I have Total Choice Ultimate package. I had tried to call Direct TV to find out why the game had been moved to a 600 channel and it would not let me view it because I didn't purchase it. How crazy is that?
