Is connecting a DVR to a LAN connection possible?

Can Direct TV connect a direct tv dvr to a LAN/Internet connection? To do guide updates, billing or even provide additional storage space? Terrence Comment: As far as I know, Direct TV DVR will need to connect to your phone line jack for update of your receiver version or look for your billing information. Additional storage space.. I think it is more on hardware to add additional hard disk space.
