My Direct TV Remote Control didn't work

I have two Direct TV remote controls, one for the bedroom and one for the Florida room. My girl friend did something to the remote contol and now it won't change channels or volume or anything.. Does it have to be reprogrammed? I looked at the battery and don't see how it could be bad and there is only one but maybe two further up. In the meantime I will have to use the bedroom remote control. Any help will be appreciated
