outrageous disconnect fees in small print
by: Anonymous

When I called to ask about Direct TV in Sept 08 (for NYC) I was told that disconnect fees were around $250, which seemed high but I thought something I could swallow if needed. Now when I call to cancel, I'm told that the fine print I signed when the installer came to the house - signed quickly because the rude fellow asked me to hurry as he was behind in his schedule - the disconnect fee is $480. That is unbelievable.

This is a recession. This kind of customer service is exactly what does - and should - drive businesses under. We can only hope that that happens to Direct TV. No company deserves it more. Join Lehman Brothers!
