The Terrible service that I got from Direct TV

by Joe
(Orlando)

I have been a customer of Direct TV since moving to Pennsylvania a year and a half ago. I chose it because cable was not available in the area we were renting a home.

7 months ago we moved to our new home.Being that we had "contracted for 2 yrs. we moved our original 4 boxes and added 2 new ones.

When we had the bad storms last month our service went out. I called Direct TV and they set up an appointment for a Tuesday (4 days later.)

On Tuesday I received a call from their subcontractor -Helsted Comm.- stating that they could not make it and I was rescheduled for the following Monday. On Sunday night all my TV's suddenly came to life. Total days out of service 10.

On Thursday July 27 my wifes tv in her computer room went blank. She called Direct TV and they scheduled an appointment for Monday July 31 to have it fixed. (4 days 1 tv out of service.)

On Monday a repairman with 1 months service changes the multiplex box in the garage. Asks ME to go and check if all the tv"s have service. I turned them on and they work.. He leaves.

About an hour later I turn on TNT and get the message Searching for Satellite. What I had was Local Service only I had lost all premium and movie channels. I immediately called up Direct TV.

They switched me to technical support. The tech told me to hit the reset button on the 2 new boxes. I did. I lost all stations on those 2 sets. He than informed me that he would set an appointment for Thursday to have a tech come out.

After some harsh words he said a tech would be here on Weds. morning.. I started the day with 1 set out ended it with 2 dead tv's and 4 with only local station.

On Wed. Aug 2 tech shows up at 5:30. He has 6 months on job. Try's resetting the 2 tv's that are out. Say's he has no idea what the problem is.

Says I should call Directv and insist that a senior tech come out and check my tv,s. I call Direct tv insist that I get a senior tech out.

They say ok but it won't be till Friday. On Friday Aug 4 the same tech who was here on Monday shows up. He can't fix it. I call Directv they say they rescheduled me for Sat. Aug 5, but they can't gaurantee a senior tech will come out on a weekend.

That is my tale of woe. I have cancelled all but 1 tv with basic for the next 2 months to fullfill my contract. I am having cable installed on Aug.9.

I doubt that you will have my tv's fixed by then anyway. How could Direct TV have the gall to hold people to their contracts with such disgusting service?
