Unsatisifed New Direct TV Client

I had just recently ordered Direct tv...2 days ago it was installed. I got home to find my tv had been left on a blank screen for approximately 6 hr. ( no one from Direct tv customer service cared about that).
Then I realize the "new DVR box was chattering and sounded like sparks-ware flying inside. I thought maybe it was getting warmed up and would stop soon.
NOPE, this went on all night until I got frustrated and unplugged the box. Next day plugged it back in and it started all over again.
I called Direct tv and requested another box..Since it was apparent they had installed a faulty box.
They said that was not part of the equipment warranty and I should unplug it every night.
Is it just me, or does this seem like a blatant disregard for any customer satisfaction?
