What is the monthly cost after the Intro Period (12 months)?

We are interested in Direct TV, but keep hearing scary things about their billing practices, hope you can help. What is the cost of the package after the Introductory Period is over? We have been told by numerous customers of Direct TV that if you set it up for them to deduct the money the amount is most often for more than specified...although you didn't get movies, etc. Tips to avoid this? Thanks for your having this awesome website....we have been doing a lot of reading (and confusion) but your forum has opened our eyes to see what we need to see and hear.
