Wind causing Direct TV digital signal problems?

by Roberta
(Gilroy, CA)

I live in Santa Clara County and it was not windy last night (10/3/09). However it was very windy in S.F.

I was watching live TV about 10:30pm, couldn't understand anything. Picture was distorted and the TV kept blacking out.

Much better today but not perfect as yet. What is causing this? Is this something I will have to put up with whenever SF has wind? The reception was always good before Direct TV switched to digital. It was the same on all channels.

Terrence comment: Hi Roberta, signals may be weaken due to few factors like heavy rain or heavy snow.

Some say wind will affect your Direct TV signal strength as well.. But I am not so sure about this..

I wonder is there any high rise building or trees or any objection like advertisement board had just been put up nearby your house?

If yes, this may be a reason that block your Direct TV Signal receptions.

To solve it fast, you may want to dirty your hand to climb up to your roof to adjust your Direct TV antenna to see whether the picture to get better or not.. ( you need 2 person here, one is staring at the TV screen, and the other one adjust your antenna on the roof )

You shall also clean the Direct TV surface with wet clothes and spray some WT40 liquids on it every few weeks to ensure no dirts and snow to sticks on it..

Hope it works :)
